Great Miracles!

Hello family and friends,

Great miracles have happened this week but as well I received some
surprising sad news. I have been called to serve in Preston for this
next transfer! It has been a extremely short 6 weeks in Stockport and
I will truly miss it. There are amazing members, amazing
investigators, less actives, part member families, and the list goes
on and on.. I have loved my time spent with Elder Lee and I will take
many of the lessons he has taught me with myself and use them with the
brilliant area of Preston! The best part about moving to Preston is
that I am again white washing there! My new companion and I are
starting from scratch. It will be another amazing experience, I know
it will be.

Like I have said before, many great miracles have happened starting
with exchanges with the Manchester Zone Leaders. On exchanges we had a
street display in the heart of Manchester and it was booming! Tons of
people and tons of return appointments! I felt like a wizard, but in
reality Manchester always gets a load of new investigators each day,
but it was a confidence booster that lifted both myself and my
companion to finding 8 new investigators this week alone! We met with
a young man here in Stockport and he has a baptismal date coming very
quickly, I am so excited for him! This past Friday we were coming home
late from the chapel but my companion had a prompting to talk with
this lady on the bus. She is amazing and we set up an appointment for
tonight! She is solid and I hope she gets baptised. Also on Saturday
we were contacting close to the church and started poaching one of the
bus stops and within 1 hour we had 3 new investigators from that stop!
It was crazy!

I remember a quote from my choir class that says "attitude is
everything, so make yours a good one". I know that after the exchange,
my attitude has changed and I have been doing the lords work more
effectively and more productively. I have to find those friends who
are truly needing the blessings of the gospel in their lives.

Twinkies

Hello family and friends!

During this past week I have been studying faith, hope, and charity.
In all the scriptures that include these three attributes I've noticed
that they all come in the same order "And faith, hope, charity, and
love, with an eye single to the glory of God, qualify him for the
work." (D&C 4:5). It's a commonly simple topic that is frequently
spoken of, but I was curious as to know why is it always in this
order. It is similar to a tree; a seed is planted (Faith). As that
seed/faith grows, hope for things to come or hoping for greater things
to grow is constantly there. The seed/faith grows into a small sprout
(this is the beginning of our hope process) as the seed/faith
continues to grow, roots will grow deeper and larger and the tree
trunk/hope will grow as well. What I believe is that as this tree
grows bigger and taller, the leaves and branches symbolize our love
for ourselves, but not in a prideful way, in such a way that we are
defining ourselves into what the Cultivator (or God) intends us to be.
Now comes the last part of it all, blossoms are the burning, physical
desire that builds into charity towards one another. These blossoms
turn into fruit and the fruit is then shared with whoever/whatever
decides to take it. Then from that fruit comes seeds. Now one seed has
grown into a tree and has produced many seeds that are able to be
planted. This is what I believe is the reason for the order of faith,
hope, charity and love.

On Saturday we had a culture night activity with the Stockport ward.
We had presentations from Africa, South Africa, Lithuania, Germany,
Brazil, and the blessed land of America. My companion and I held down the American presentation with talking about our differences in the
American English language compared to British English language,
American football, Kool-aid, and the thing that kept everyone involved
was twinkles. BRITISH PEOPLE LOVE TWINKIES!! It was so funny to see the reaction when we took out the twinkies, eyes grew larger and
everyone was super anxious to try some.

We had a miracle the other night. Elder Lee and I were on the bus
coming home just a little late, but as we were coming up to the stop
we needed so we could take another bus home, Elder Lee told me that we should get off the bus a stop early just because, so I just kinda blew
it off and followed. As we were walking we started talking with this
22 yr old boy named Tom. Tom has had some traumatic times so we shared with him the Plan of Salvation. The Holy Ghost was there and I
shared an experience and found myself in tears because the whole
conversation touched my heart. I feel a little bit bad for the
unbelief I had for getting off the bus a stop early but I now know to
"never postpone a prompting".

Mom and family: it's been a great week! Stockport has a lot of
potential. Oh spencer... You had a birthday shout hurray, to want to
sing to you today. One year wiser and older too...
Hhhhhaaaaaaappppppppyyyyy birthday tooooooo you! 18 wow that is

enough. Mom, I now enjoy a good lasagna! And yes, sushi is amazing

Sports Contacts!

Elder Nichols (front left, Elder Lee front right) with Sisters and Elders from the Manchester Mission
Hello family and friends!

This week has been that much better because about four days in a row
England has had sunshine! The hymn 'scatter sunshine' has been
Constantly on my mind and it is marvelous! The best part about
Sunshine is there are lots of happier people and a lot more people in
General. So just a few days ago my comp. and I were walking from the
church to town when we saw a bundle of hoodlum-kids who were playing
basket ball on a little court so we decided to ball it up with the
kids. We had a lot of fun and later told them who we were and what we
do, they think we are great so they invite us every time they play and
so we will start teaching the lessons with them next time and
hopefully get some youth for the ward!
We have been sharing a lot of lessons with the members and their
friends and it is amazing. We have taught a lot of member about prayer
and how desire comes to those that we pray for, now we are teaching
them about service and how we can help our friends so these members
can find easy and simple ways that they never have seen before to
bring their friends into the gospel! It is truly amazing! I love it
and the members are brilliant! They truly wish to do member missionary
work and as they work with the Lord it will happen and people will
come into the church! I love the mission so much!
Mom and family: whoohoo! Spencer congratulations! Get that eagle done!
Woo I have been hoping and praying for you so much! I love you bro!
Brycie, you are a fine young man, I hear that you are having lots of
fun! Keep going and remember when you play the piano make sure you

Crazy Week!

Hello Everyone!

What a week! Elder Lee and I have come across some very interesting
characters out there. For one in particular; elder Lee and I, on one
night, got off the bus at the buss station so we could take another
bus home. We were chatting with some curious and nice people when all
of the sudden this man yelled at us asking if we were priests and then
he told us to go and "give that lady some Christ in her life right now
cause she has lost her rag" (it's an expression like 'I've lost my
marbles') we were confused and kept on walking when we bumped into
this woman who was heavily intoxicated and was being harassed by
thug-like-kids. We tried to help her and asked her if she was ok. She
told us that she lost her mother that day and she wants to give up. We
said a little prayer with her and left cause there was nothing we
could do to help, plus we felt a little weird with the situation. We
jumped on our bus and while we sat down, a great number of
thing-like-kids were harassing her again then the cops showed up and
arrested her. I was truly sorry for that woman, but at the same time,
we were glad that we listened to the Spirit and left so we wouldn't
get involved with police... That would have been bad!
Anyway it's been good, a slow progression on finding investigators to
teach, we have two for Thursday and they seem solid! I hope they work
out and find a desire to come unto Christ.
Elder Lee and I found a gold mine! Not really but we found a beautiful
area close to the area boundaries. It is a trail that goes along a
canal. We told each other that when springtime comes, we will have a
photo shoot and we will get some pics. I cannot wait to go see it
again!
Mom and Family: hiya! Way to be family! Keep busy and focused on good
things! Spencer you can do it! Finish that eagle, it is so worth the
hard work! Ally comes home on Wednesday!! Exciting! New washer?! And
it's one dad likes? That's good! ;) I am well and mom I get the
package tomorrow! Thank you so much! I knew it would all work out,
also more contacts!! I may look good in new glasses but sometimes it
puts a lot of strain on my eyes and I get massive headaches so they
are nice here and there :).
It must be fore the better. Keep doing great things that you love!
I love you all and will email next week!

Love,

Elder Nichols
